Trump’s Testimony Declined by Court

Trump won’t testify as defence and prosecution rest cases
Former President Donald Trump will not testify at his impeachment trial, his lawyers have said, as the defence and prosecution rested their cases on day four of the proceedings.
Trump’s legal team argued that the trial was unconstitutional and should be dismissed, while Democratic prosecutors presented evidence linking Trump’s words and actions to the Capitol riot on January 6.
Despite calls for Trump to testify under oath, his lawyers declined the invitation, citing the “political nature” of the proceedings. The Senate will now move to a debate over whether to convict or acquit Trump on the charge of incitement of insurrection.
